what if you don’t need to find yourself?
we spend an extraordinary amount of time trying to become someone.
there is always another book to read, another habit to break, another goal to reach, another thing to work on.
personal growth can quietly become another form of pressure: what if I’m not doing enough?
but what if we have the whole thing backwards?
what if you don’t need to find yourself?
you have never actually lost yourself. you’ve just become very good at living according to the programs and conditions placed upon you.
you learned how to be responsible.
you learned to keep going.
you learned how to meet expectations.
you learned how to function even when you were exhausted.
you learned to keep busy.
and the voice underneath all of that became quiet.
not gone. just quiet.
we keep looking outward for answers
when something feels off, our instinct is to do something to try and find the answer.
but sometimes, what we need most isn’t another answer. it’s space.
space between the noise and our thoughts.
space between what everyone else expects from us and what we actually want.
space between the life we’ve become accustomed to and the life that might still be asking for our attention.
that is a different kind of growth.
it isn’t about adding something, it’s about noticing.
that is why I believe in the pause
because when we stop, we notice what gives us energy and what drains us. what we have been tolerating and what' we have been missing. what our body has been trying to tell us and what we genuinely enjoy.
and in the pause, we remember something simple: I like being me.
