I’ll do it when never happens

i’ll do it when things calm down.

i’ll start when i have more time.

i’ll leave when the timing is right.

i’ll take care of myself when everything else is handled.

sound familiar?

the problem with when is that is always gives us a reason to wait.

there will always be something to do, someone who needs us, a bill to pay, a deadline to meet or a reason why now isn’t the right time.

and suddenly, months or years have passed.

i’ll do it when…is a comfortable way of saying, i’m not ready.

that’s worth paying attention to. not judging. just noticing.

pause and ask yourself: what have i been telling myself i’ll do when the time is right?

then ask the harder question: what would happen if i stopped waiting for the perfect time?

you don’t have to change your whole life today. but you might be surprised by what changes the you stop making never sound like a plan.
