the medicine of community
there are things we simply can’t give ourselves.
we can read books, meditate, work endlessly on ourselves and those things have value, but eventually growth asks us to step out of our own heads and step into relationship with other people.
that’s where community is so powerful.
not because everyone agrees with you. or because it’s always comfortable but it challenges the idea that you have to do everything on your own.
most people don’t feel lonely because they are physically alone, but because they keep their struggles private. they convince themselves that nobody would understand so they withdraw from others.
but community changes this.
it gives you somewhere to be expected, where wins are celebrated with you and challenges are shared openly.
someone reminds you of who you are on the day’s you’ve forgotten.
this may seem ordinary, but community has a profound effect on our nervous system and how we feel. we feel safe to relax, to laugh and to ask for help when we need it.
this isn’t about having hundreds of people around and a large following. a healthy community can be five people who genuinely care and support one another. it’s the quality of the connections not the size of the group that matters.
if you’ve been feeling alone and been isolating, attend the gathering. start the conversation and find your tribe.
transformation happens in conversation and growth and expansion flourishes through connections.
and knowing someone is walking beside us is enough to remind us community is medicine.
