who is actually running your life?

your life is being run by programs you didn’t choose.

the thoughts you think, the fears you carry, the way you react to life. so much of what you call yourself is conditioning running in the background.

the past is running the present, and the mind calls it reality.

it began in childhood, when emotions overwhelmed you and you didn’t always feel the unconditional love and safety you needed. you adapted. you learned to please, protect yourself, anticipate problems and seek control.

fear became the seed from which your thinking patterns grew.

eventually, you forgot they were patterns. you called them me.

the illusion of control

the mind believes that if it can predict life, it can protect you from being hurt. so it plans, analyzes, worries and tries to manage what happens next.

but you cannot control life. you can make choices and influence outcomes, but you cannot guarantee them.

the need for control is often an attempt to feel safe in a world that will never offer complete certainty.

what happens when you stop believing you have to control everything to be okay?

your awareness changes.

you begin to see the fear without automatically following it. you recognize the thought without believing every word. the old programs may still run, but they no longer have to run you.

and as your relationship with life changes, your experience of it changes too.

you are not the experience

you didn’t consciously choose every thought that appeared today. you didn’t decide every emotion you would feel or arrange every circumstance that brought you here.

life is unfolding beyond your conscious control.

you participate. you make choices. you respond. but you are not directing every part of the experience.

so what are you?

notice that thoughts come and go. emotions come and go. circumstances change.

you are the awareness in which all of this is experienced.

when you stop identifying with every thought and feeling, you discover a different kind of freedom. not the freedom to control life, but the freedom to experience it without being entirely governed by the programs of your past.

your trust deepens because you no longer need certainty before you can be at peace.

you are still not in control of life’s unfolding.

but you no longer need to be.

you are not here to control the experience. you are here, aware of it.

and perhaps this is where life truly begins.
