when you stop telling life how it should be
so much of our unhappiness comes from the picture we carry of how life should be.
how someone should treat us. how a relationship should feel. where we should be by now. how our body should look. how quickly something should unfold.
and when reality doesn’t match the picture, we struggle.
we try to change people. we push for our outcomes. we make plans to get life back on track.
but the greatest movement forward is to stop pushing and pause.
to let go of the projections and meet what is actually here and now.
this doesn’t mean settling or becoming passive. it means allowing yourself to see clearly before deciding what to do.
instead of: why aren’t they giving me what i need?
ask: what are they actually showing me?
instead of: why isn’t my life where i thought it would be?
ask: what is my life asking of me now?
this is the opportunity to pause and listen.
notice what your body feels.
listen, receive and respond.
when we release our projections we don’t lose our desires. we simply stop making our happiness dependent on them becoming reality.
we can want something deeply and still be present with what is.
we can love someone and still see them clearly.
we can have dreams for our lives and still allow life to surprise us.
and this is where fulfillment begins, not when everything finally looks the way we imagined, but when we become peaceful enough to let life reveal itself.
sometimes the pause isn’t about figuring out what to do next. its about becoming quiet enough to see what is already true.
