the pause you skip every time you reach for your screen
it’s easy to miss yourself these days.
you reach for your phone before you even know how you feel. you scroll away. you fill every gap of silence with something to keep your attention outside of you.
and without noticing it, you start living away from yourself.
a screen can show you everything except you.
it can show you people’s highlights, opinions, news, beauty, chaos, inspiration, distraction, all of it. but it can’t show you what’s happening in your chest right now. it can’t show you the tension in your shoulders or the way your breath is moving or that quiet feeling underneath everything you’ve been pushing through.
you only see that when you actually pause.
when you spend more time with yourself, something starts to happen.
at first, it can feel uncomfortable. like you suddenly notice how much you’ve been avoiding yourself…thoughts get louder. emotions you didn’t realize were there start showing up. even your body starts speaking more clearly.
there’s more space for you. more room to breathe. less urgency to check, compare, respond or fill every second.
there is just you.
and the funny thing is when that starts to return, your energy feels different. you feel grounded. you are no longer leaking yourself into everything outside of you.
this isn’t about quitting technology or pretending the world doesn’t exist. it’s just remembering that you exist without it.
so the next time your hand reaches out automatically for a screen, notice it. instead choose the pause for once. then again. and again.
that’s where you come back to yourself.
