i thought i needed more time. i actually needed a pause.
there was a time when i could feel it.
the tiredness. the heaviness. the voice inside me saying something needs to change.
but instead of listening, i searched for ways to push through.
i looked for ways to have more energy, more discipline. i thought if i could just find the right routine and practice, i could overcome the exhaustion.
i had convinced myself that rest was something i earned.
after the work was done. after everything on my list was complete.
the problem was everything was never complete.
there was always another task. another person who needed something. i began postponing my own life.
i was waiting for the time i would finally have enough space for myself.
but that moment never came. because rest is something we choose along the way.
the pause taught me something i didn’t want to admit: exhaustion is not a sign to try harder. it is a sign that we have been moving away from ourselves for too long.
we often celebrate how much we can carry. how busy we are. how much we accomplish. but we rarely ask: what is the cost of always pushing through?
what parts of ourselves do we lose when we are focused on what comes next?
how many moments pass by while we are waiting to feel finally caught up?
life is happening now.
it is in the conversation we almost missed because we were distracted.
the walk we rushed through.
the meal we ate without tasting.
the pause is not about doing nothing. it is about returning to our bodies. returning to the parts we forget.
i began to understand that slowing down was showing me what actually matters.
we stop living for what needs to be done and experience what is already here.
