after the pause: check in with yourself
pausing is only half the practice.
the other half is noticing what you find when you stop long enough to check in.
most of us move through the day without asking very basic questions.
how does my body actually feel?
what emotion am I carrying?
what has my mind been doing all day?
where am I putting my energy?
what am I avoiding?
what do I need?
and most importantly: what am i going to do differently now that i’ve noticed?
take a few minutes.
be honest.
there are no right answers.
BODY - what am i feeling physically? what is my body telling me right now?
EMOTION - what am i feeling? can i let myself feel what i’m feeling without immediately reacting to it?
MIND - what is my mind doing? what has my mind been spending its time on? is this actually helping me right now?
ENERGY - where is my energy going? is where i’m putting my energy actually supporting the life i’m trying to create?
RESISTANCE - what am i resisting right now? what would become easier if i stopped fighting what is already here?
NEED - what do i need? what do i need right now?
CHOICE - what new choice will i make? knowing what i know now, what will i do differently?
the after pause check in.
you can use these questions whenever you need to come back to yourself. you don’t have to answer perfectly. you don’t even have to answer every question every time. the practice is simply this: pause. notice. be honest. choose.
